Chefs on the Move: Northeast News

In New York City, Grand Brasserie debuted at Grand Central Terminal, led by Guillaume Thivet. Elhadji Cisse (Ponty Bistro) christened PB Brasserie in Harlem. Eric Huang expanded his Sichuan fried chicken concept, Pecking House, to Chinatown. Yves Jadot Restaurant Group added a Theater District location of Dear Irving cocktail bar. Thomas Murphy tapped Denevin Miranda as chef at Italian-inspired Alessa. Ariel Arce (Tokyo Record Bar) is putting the finishing touches on adjoining Heroes and Pearl Box in Soho. Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group is renovating and reopening the revolving restaurant, The View, while also closing Blue Smoke in Battery Park City.

In Saratoga Springs, Christopher Smith came aboard as executive chef at the Hotel Brookmere and its restaurant, Regency Restaurant & Bar

In Philadelphia, Chart House ends its 38-year run next month. 

 

In Washington, D.C., New York City-based Olio e Più served up regional Italian cuisine in the Federal-American National Bank Building. Adams Morgan welcomed a Brazilian bar called Cana. The folks behind Balos are working on an American-French bistro in Arlington called The Angie.

In Boston, Barbara Lynch closed The Rudder and announced impending closures for her remaining restaurants, No. 9 Park and B&G Oysters

In Maine, Winona’s opened in Camden, featuring seasonal dishes from Devin Dearden (The Alna Store). Muddy Rudder shuttered in Yarmouth. 

In Vermont, Cappadocia is a Turkish newcomer in White River Junction. Mad Taco reopened in Montpelier. The Painted Lady Café folded in Milton. 

In New Jersey, Franklin Social and The Junto Attic Bar both reopened following a fire earlier this year. 

In Providence, Cesin Curi cut the tape on a Peruvian rotisserie concept, Brasa Y Chifa

In Buffalo, Library Bar opened at the Roycroft Inn
