Newspapers are in the business of getting people to read (or, at least they used to be.) Magazines also want you to read. And catalogs—Crate and Barrel knows where your eye goes and where the best spots are in a mail-order catalog, right? What about retailers? Grocery stores and department stores know where your eye is, and place an abundance of big, promotional end caps as a result.
