Fatten Up Fat Tuesday With Packzi and Kolacky

Thank the yearly cleaning out of pantries in preparation of the Lenten season for the creation of packzi, Polish fried dough served on Fat Tuesday. Laden with lard and egg yolks, flattened and filled with custard or fruit and topped with a thick glaze or sugar dusting, they’re beloved especially in Midwest communities with Eastern European roots.
