In Los Angeles, Authentic Hospitality took over ownership of Broken Shaker, with new Caribbean-Latin menus from Fabian von Hauske Valtierra and Jeremiah Stone. Gigi’s folded in Hollywood. Elf Cafe closed after 19 years in Echo Park.
In the Bay Area, Austin-based Clark’s Oyster Bar made a splash in Menlo Park. Wyatt Fields is opening Breakwater Barbecue to the former Monster Chef space on Highway 1.
In Sacramento, Nixtaco opened in Folsom. A Liberian restaurant called AfroEatz is planned for Midtown.
In Paso Robles, The Ava Hotel debuts Mediterranean-inspired EMRE this summer, with Julien Asseo as chef.
In Las Vegas, The Doberman Drawing Room is a ritzy new cocktail bar in the Arts District.
In Denver, Native-owned Tocabe landed at Denver International Airport. Little Johnny B’s Woodfired Pizza replaced Roberta’s at the Urban Cowboy Public Bar. Little Wolf whiskey bar is heading to the Café Brazil space in the Berkeley neighborhood. The Denver Stockyard Saloon is no more.
In Phoenix, Indianapolis steakhouse Huse Culinary is opening its first out-of-state location.
In Salt Lake City, Cannella’s Italian restaurant is reopening in the Sugar House Station food hall. A jazz and cocktail bar called Repeal is moving into the former Bourbon House space.
In Santa Fe, Cristian Pontiggia came aboard as executive chef of Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi.
