In Seattle, Oscar Amador introduced La Loba, a Spanish restaurant with Pacific Northwest influences, in the 1 Hotel Seattle

In Los Angeles, Doto is a new California-inspired all-day izakaya in Virgil Village, from Jared Dowling (Edgemar). The folks behind Somerville and Lost Bar teamed up with actress Issa Rae to launch a new pizza concept, Downtown Dough. Bread Head sandwich shop is adding locations in Manhattan Beach and Westwood. Barbecue spot Holy Cow called it quits in Culver City. Oriel shuttered in Chinatown. 

In the Bay Area, Parker and Caroline Brown launch a modern American bistro, Side A, this week in the Universal Cafe space Adrian Garcia’s Taco Primo joined the dining lineup at Thrive City. Jacob Harth brings Bistro Lagniappe to Healdsburg in May. Adam Rosenblum (Causwells) is transforming Lilah into Super Mensch, a restaurant and cocktail bar inspired by East Coast Jewish delis. Mica Talmor closes Pomella’s May 26. 

 

In Santa Barbara, Paul Hibler and Jeff Goodman turn their smash burger takeout concept, The Window, into a permanent restaurant next month. Dom Crisp (Lonely Oyster) and Raj Nallapothola open Basque-inspired Dom’s Taverna in June. 

In the Santa Ynez Valley, Kevin Malone signed on as executive chef of The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, Auberge Resorts Collection

In Portland, Grant Macdonald opened two adjoining concepts, Cafe Rosetta and the second location of Matsunoki Ramen, in the Boise neighborhood. Prettyboy Pizza set up shop at Little Beast Brewing. Vedran Jordan turns his Balkan pop-up, Alma, into a permanent restaurant in the King neighborhood this summer. 

In Las Vegas, Bottled Blonde lands on the Strip this summer. 

In Denver, Catira brought Venezuelan cuisine to Greenwood Village. The historic Evans School got new life as Schoolyard Beer Garden and Cafe

In Phoenix, Kuza is bringing Japanese robata-style cooking to the Chauncey’s Social space in Scottsdale. 

In Albuquerque, May 17 marks the end for Zinc Wine Bar and Bistro

In Montana, Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom opened in Great Falls. 

In Ketchum, Idaho, Paul Brown joined the Sun Valley Culinary Institute (SVCI) as chef instructor.
