Chefs on the Move: Southern News

In Miami, Ignacio Lopez Mancisidor, Andrea Fraquelli, and Mattia Cicognani (84 Magic Hospitality) opened an Italian bistro in Coconut Grove called Cotoletta, with Giulio Rossi as executive chef. The SLS South Beach welcomed a Colombian-Caribbean restaurant, Cartagena, from Juan Manuel Barrientos. The folks behind Motek branched out with Sesame Bakery in North Miami, with a menu from Etai Almog (Balthazar Bakery). Byblos Miami announced Medy Serawi as executive chef. Michael White plans his first standalone restaurant in Florida, MIKA, for Coral Gables. 

In Memphis, the Broad Avenue Arts District welcomed a new wine bar, Non-Vintage.

In Chattanooga, Daniel Lindley (5th & Taylor) introduced a new American restaurant, 2nd, in the Southside.

 

In Austin, Fixe Southern House went casual with a spin-off spot, Hissy Fit, at the Arboretum

In Dallas, the HALL Park Hotel made its debut in Frisco, with on-site Palato Italian Kitchen and Lounge due next month. Bacchus Kitchen + Bar welcomed Juan Pablo Silva as executive chef. 

In Houston, Rex Hospitality opened its first standalone location of Maven Coffee + Cocktails in Sawyer Yards. Mexico City’s Ojo de Agua plans a location for Helix Park. 

In Charlotte, Riccio’s Italian Restaurant closed after 60 years. 

In Charleston, the owner of Félix Cocktails et Cuisine branched out next door with La Cave, a cocktail lounge inspired by the countryside in the south of France. 

In North Myrtle Beach, Big Chill Island House made its recent debut, featuring coastal cuisine from Ted Deptula.

In Clearwater Beach, Fla., the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach promoted Nana Darkwah to executive chef, and added Eric Champagne as executive sous chef. 

In Boca Raton, Fla., Jonathan Fox and Takashi Yagihashi unveiled Kasumi at the Waterstone Resort & Marina.
