In Chicago, D’Andre Carter and Heather Bublick (both Feast & Imbibe) fire up the flagship location of their barbecue concept, Soul & Smoke, in Evanston this summer. Junior Borges and Nic Yanes cut the tape on Nic + Junior’s in River North. A magic venue — complete with restaurant and bar — called The Hand & The Eye is opening in the former Lawry’s The Prime Rib space. 

In Detroit, the owners of Cafe Sous Terre are working on a daytime cafe called Grand Porter in Hubbard Richard.

In Milwaukee, Italian food truck Nadi Plates is planting brick and mortar roots on the East Side. Nite Wolf ramen pop-up ends its residency at Uncle Wolfie’s Breakfast Tavern May 31. 

 

In Des Moines, Revelry Room Bar + Kitchen lands at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel May 30, with Nija Lightfoot tapped as executive chef. The Breakfast Club adds a fourth location in Waukee next year. 

In St. Louis, Small Batch is closing in Midtown. 

In Kansas City, Jasmine Rios tapped into her Mexican heritage for a new downtown cocktail bar, Kohinoor. Big Mood Natural Wines called it quits. Cafe Gratitude ended its 13-year run in the Crossroads.
