Star Anise

Malt Powder

Freshly Ground Black Pepper

In a medium pot, bring water, cream and star anise to a boil. Stir in oats. Return to a simmer, then drop heat to medium-low. Slowly cook, occasionally stirring to avoid scorching, until oats are tender, about 30 minutes. Whisk in malt powder and season with salt and pepper. Remove anise. Reserve warm until needed.
